It's been awhile!
A lot has happened in the past nine years! Family members were lost and gained. We retired and moved into a new house.
In 2019 we embarked on an epic journey, sailing around the world, 911 days, 15 countries, 48,000 nautical miles traveled! You can read all about it here, Sailing Trance. I wrote a book! "Grandpa Dan's Dream Sailing Around the World", available on Barnes & Noble. After several years writing my sailing blog, I like the options available on Wordpress compared to here on Blogger. I may just switch over TBD.
I'm still quilting and sewing, upgraded to a newer embroidery machine and starting to learn my new Cricut.

Little Girls Vintage Dress
There are these three little red heads in our lives I was just longing to make dresses for. After searching patterns, even borrowing a few from my good friend Carole, I found this one, Vintage Dress by Simple Simon & Company for WE ALL SEW. I made one change in the construction, as seen here.
The direction have you encase the inside seam allowance with Bias binding or Bias tape, I turned under the hem on the lining of the bodice 1/2 inch then top stitched from the right side. It turned out really clean and finished. The directions are very well written, easy to follow and best of all it was free.
Don't they just look adorable? I also purchase cute little white short sleeve t-shirts from Kohl's as an option for them.

"Stark Night"
"Stark Night" my entry for the Game of Quilts
competition being held at Spool with the BadAss Quilters Society.
This is the Blood, Stone, Steel and Fire colorway using Peppered Cottons in Flame, Charcoal, Garnet and Fog. The Sword was created using Lesley Riley's image transfer paper TAP onto the Fog colored fabric and fused. Stitching was added to enhance details. The eyes were thread painted, the compass was fused. The background quilting in different directions is for the "Stark" children who never seem to find each other.
September 16th - 19th Game of Quilts exhibition and voting at SPOOL and online - Popular voting for both colorways in store and collective online.

"Mother Dearest"
"Mother Dearest" my entry for the Game of Quilts competition being held at Spool with the BadAss Quilters Society. This was the Mother of Dragons colorway using Peppered Cottons in Saffron, Emerald, Oyster and Carbon. The emerald and saffron fabrics are fused onto the carbon, thread painting was added in the eye, and I used a Shiva paint stick around the dragon scales to add depth.
